Is your home designed to sell?
Find out with our help. Time is of the essence, you must get to it now.
How do you prepare your home for sale?
1. Cleaning your home is a must.
It is very important that your home is sparkling clean.
Buyers are very picky & are turned off by seeing dust or spider webs.
Do you have a cleaning person come in or do you clean your own home regularly? If the answer is yes, you are on the right path to preparing your home, but don’t pat yourself on the back just yet. Most of the cleaning people & even homeowners do just light cleaning.
Check out our list of areas below; you can see if your home is clean enough to be shown & is designed to sell.
Exterior of the home.
That is a very important part of the house. This is the very first thing that people will see & your home is going to be judged by it.
Believe me, if it is unattractive, buyers will be turning away & deciding not to go in to see the rest of the home. Make the exterior inviting! Give new life to your siding by power washing it. Can’t do it yourself? Hire someone to do the work for you. Clean your gutters.
Front door:
It’s the soul of the house. Clean it inside & out.
Windows:
Buyers look for a nice view. Clean windows inside & out to make sure buyers can see your lovely view.
Doors:
Do you have kids or grandkids? Then you exactly know what I am talking about. Maybe they don’t spend that much time at the home but they sure leave their fingerprints all over the doors. Don’t forget to clean the top of the door, as it’s usually not included in your weekly or monthly cleaning service.
Moldings on wall:
Do you have decorative moldings on the wall? Dust them and wipe them off. They’ll look like new.
Ceiling & ceiling fans:
This is not something that you would clean every week, so I know it is very easy to forget about. Dust and clean light fixtures, too.
Closets:
Wipe off all shelves. Nobody wants to even imagine putting their clothes in a dirty closet.
Kitchen:
This is one of the most important rooms in your home. Make sure everything is sparkling clean. For example: counter top, sink, floor, windows. Don’t forget the cabinets.
Bathrooms:
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of cleanliness. This room has to be just as clean as the kitchen, if not more. Fingerprints, streaks or smeared toothpaste on a mirror is a big turn off. Make sure your shower doors, shower and bathtub are clean. People will note little things. Make your home memorable to them in a positive way.

Basement:
Clean up your basement. If you have windows make sure buyers can look outside. Check walls & all hidden spots for mold. Mold can be very dangerous & hard to get rid of. It’s always a good idea to call a professional to check it out.
Any sign of water stains should be repaired. Buyers are very paranoid about water in the basement, as it can cause mold. Let a professional check how serious the damage is.
Garage:
Floor should be swept.
